The World of Hebrew Prophets: Isaiah (~3 hrs)

In the first part we explore the first 40 chapters of the Book of Isaiah, delving into its historical context and symbolic language. We consider Isaiah's words in light of the Syro-Ephraimite War, crucial dates like the fall of Samaria and Jerusalem. We examine the covenant lawsuit against Israel, the themes of judgment, deliverance, and devotion, through the parable of the vineyard and the prophetic symbolism of Immanuel.

This multi-part seminar, "The World of Hebrew Prophets," explores the ancient messages by seeking to understand the world, the events, and the circumstances that surround the lives of prophets and their audiences. The recordings are lectures from an undergraduate class I taught at a Christian college. The entire series of seminars on the prophets can be watched in any order, but I highly recommend watching them from the beginning. The best place to start with the Prophets are these videos!

The lecture on Isaiah is almost 3 hours long, so it was broken up into multiple shorter segments.
